VARADERO, Cuba, Dec. 14- Varadero will have 1,000 more rooms by 2020, once the investments in the two hotels being built in the Oasis and Los Tainos areas, respectively, are completed, Ivis Fernandez, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) in Matanzas, affirmed.
At present, the resort has more than 22,000 rooms in 52 hotels, most of them of high standards hosting clients from 72 nations, who according to surveys, are satisfied with the services and enjoy the second best beach on the planet.
Fernandez explained that for the International Tourism Fair (FitCuba), to be held there next year, investment of Varadero boulevard is in process with novel design set in 62nd and 64th streets and the major repair of the Plaza America Convention Center, among others.
The Cuban resort ends 2019 with 1,800.000 visitors, including 1.5 million foreigners, despite the measures imposed by the U.S. government that tighten the blockade against Cuba, the official added.
Canada continues as the main issuing country, with 80 percent of air operations through the Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport; Russia grows considerably and is followed by Germany, France, Mexico, Chile and Spain, Fernandez concluded. (ACN)
