Havana, Jan. 1st – The Nutcracker, a classic work in the repertoire of world dance, will be the main attraction of the artistic gala that today the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will offer in celebration of the 61st anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, and which will also be awarded with the annual prize Alicia Alonso by the Great Theater of Havana.
The impressive arena in the center of the Cuban capital will host this show, which has already become a tradition at the opening of each year, and where the artistic flow of this company shines for the enjoyment of its countless followers.
It will also be the first opening function of the year in which Alicia Alonso, who died last October 17, is not present in this capital.
A BNC press release, which Prensa Latina reports, notes that the functions of this work will continue on January 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12.
The Nutcracker, the most popular ballet classic worldwide in the New Year holidays, will be offered in the version made by Alicia in 1998, which will Viengsay Valdés, Grettel Morejón, Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Dani Hernández, Rafael Quenedit, Adrián Sánchez, Chanel Cabrera, Claudia García and Adrián Sánchez in have the leading roles.
Also, Chavela Riera, Diego Tápanes, Katherine Ochoa, Alejandro Olivera, Narciso Medina, among other artists will appear in main roles. (Text and Photo: ACN)
