Cienfuegos, Feb. 13.- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba, today heads a government visit to this province, in order to assess the progress of prioritized programs of economic and social impact.
The tour began through Cumanayagua, the only mountainous municipality in the territory and where relevant productive centers such as the Escambray Dairy Combine, the Eladio Machín Coffee Farming Company, and the El Tablon cattle farm are located, with a tradition in the genetic development of livestock.
Cumanayagua is also strong in the development of the Turquino Plan program, especially in agricultural production, and for having a large forest reserve and tourist potential.
It is the fourth government visit of the current year corresponding to the second cycle, the first went to Las Tunas, followed by Sancti Spíritus and Artemisa.
The province of Cienfuegos was founded on July 2, 1976, when a new administrative political division was approved in the country, with the city of the same name as capital.
