Eight new cases of Covid-19 in Cuba



Havana, Mar 24.- At the close of yesterday, March 23, eight new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Cuba, for a figure of 48 in the country.

57-year-old Cuban citizen with residence in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, Havana. He arrived in the country on March 15 from Spain. He started on the 15th himself with symptoms and on the 18th he was admitted to the Dr. Luís Díaz Soto Naval Hospital as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

42-year-old Cuban citizen with residence in the municipality and province of Pinar del Río. He arrived in the country on March 11 from Montevideo, Uruguay. On the 16th, he began with symptoms and on the 20th, he was admitted to the León Cuervo Rubio Hospital as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

60-year-old Cuban citizen with residence in the Cotorro municipality, Havana province. He arrived in the country on March 15 from Asturias, Spain. On the 17th, she began with symptoms and on the 19th she was admitted to the Dr. Luis Díaz Soto Hospital as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

Russian citizen of 60 years of age, with residence in the Playa municipality, Havana province. He arrived in the country on March 15 from the Dominican Republic. She started with symptoms on the 18th and on the 19th she was admitted to the IPK as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

Cuban citizen with residence in the United States, 36 years old. He resides in the Palma Soriano municipality, Santiago de Cuba province. He arrived in the country on March 21 from the United States. He started with symptoms on the 15th and on the 22nd he was admitted to Villa Colibrí as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

Cuban citizen of 42 years of age with residence in the municipality and province of Ciego de Ávila. He arrived in the country on March 15 from Louisiana, United States. She started with symptoms on the 17th and on the 19th she was admitted to the Nguyen Van Troi Isolation Center as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far.

49-year-old Cuban citizen with a history of high blood pressure. He resides in the Taguasco municipality, Sancti Spíritus province. He arrived in the country on March 17 from the Dominican Republic. He started with symptoms on the 17th and on the 21st he was admitted to the Rehabilitation Hospital as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far .

49-year-old Cuban citizen with a history of high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus. He resides in the Placetas municipality, Villa Clara province. He arrived in the country on March 20 from the United States. He started with symptoms on the 21st and on the 22nd he was admitted to the Manuel Piti Fajardo Hospital as a suspected case. It continues with satisfactory evolution so far .

Of the 48 patients diagnosed with the disease, 46 are kept in hospital, of which two remain in critical condition and one is seriously ill. A medical team of specialists in Intensive Care Therapy and the Group of Experts of the Ministry of Public Health maintain a permanent attention and follow-up of these patients. The rest of the patients present a stable clinical evolution.

Yesterday, the 25-year-old patient, resident in Santa Clara, Villa Clara province, husband of the Bolivian citizen, was discharged from the IPK. He continues to be admitted at home for 14 days, under daily medical supervision.

In Cuba, until March 23, 1,229 patients are admitted for clinical-epidemiological surveillance in the isolation and care centers created for this purpose, of them 174 foreigners and 1,555 Cubans. Another 33,132 people are monitored from Primary Health Care in their homes.

Worldwide, 338 thousand 307 cases have been confirmed, with 14 thousand 602 deaths in 164 countries and a fatality of 4.32%. The World Health Organization reports 102 countries with transmission. In the Region of the Americas, 33 countries and 11 overseas territories are affected. 41 thousand 879 cases and 554 deaths have been confirmed.
