Havana 5 may.- With the confirmation of 19 positive patients for Covid-19, Cuba registered the lowest number of daily cases on Monday in the last 15 days, a figure that, although it places us in a better scenario, cannot constitute a reason for trust among our population. Furthermore, it is essential to keep a strict watch on each case, mainly in places where local transmission of the disease events are open.
Regarding this last matter, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, commented on the closure of four local transmission events. In addition, a new local transmission event was reported in the popular council Luyanó Moderno, in the capital municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, which comprises six blocks and a population of 3,296 inhabitants. So far there have been confirmed ten positive cases of Covid-19, linked to a family event, said Portal Miranda.
He recalled that 35 events remain active in the country, reported in 11 provinces (Pinar del Río, Havana, Mayabeque, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo) and Isla de la Juventud.
President Díaz-Canel called on the population to be careful, particularly when next Sunday we will celebrate Mother's Day, a sensitive issue for the population that must be assumed with responsibility.
In order to reduce the transit of state vehicles, the minister of Economy also reported the decision to paralyze a part of state vehicles, which can only circulate if they have an authorization approved by the provincial defense councils.
Regarding this particular measure, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, emphasized that it is not a decision of the Ministry of Transport to stop one or the other vehicle, but an agreement with all the ministries and national institutions.
The ministers of the Food Industry and of Agriculture, two decisive sectors for feeding the population, reported on the work that is carried out on this complex scenario on different fronts. (www.presidencia.gob.cu) (Photo: Revolution Studies)
