Local nurses face pandemic

By Juan Mendoza Medina / Radio Cadena Agramonte.

This nurse from the military hospital in Camagüey, says that, at 9:00pm, they approach a windows and, from the street, the residents of the Garrido neighborhood thank and greet the hospital´s personnel.

This is also perceived by Mayda Teresa Rivero Pérez, who works as an assistant to patients in the IC room, and that show of trust bounds her even more to comply with her profession.

The first days were a lot of learning, and we have everything we need, from expendable material to medications, says another assistant, Marcia Hernández González. Although they constantly face a risky situation, they say they are not afraid but worried, yet, calm prevails.

In the free moments they watch the news, listen to music, but still keep aware of the evolution of each patient and the well-being of their families, to whom they constantly offer advice.

Silvia, Mayda and Marcia have been facing Coronavirus at the military hospital. For these nurses, who also heal with love, there is no better gift than that reciprocal feeling that the people give them. (Image: https://instituciones.sld.cu )
