Havana, May 5.- At the proposal of Cuba, the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) held the first Regional Technical Meeting on the confrontation with Covid-19 in the member countries, the island's Foreign Ministry reported.
According to the general director of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations, Eugenio Martínez, shared on his Twitter account, the program included a special presentation from Cuba on the treatment of infected patients.
In the virtual event held this Monday, the Cuban experience was shared by the director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, Francisco Durán, and the coordinator of the Group of Experts of that portfolio, Ricardo Pereda.
In another event to analyze the confrontation with Covid-19, on March 24, the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Health of the ACS member countries decided to coordinate regional efforts to confront the pandemic.
The international conference organized from Port of Spain, in Trinidad and Tobago, promoted the meeting of technical experts that took place this Monday, to conceptualize a joint response and strategies to combat the pandemic.
In this exchange, the ACS Secretary General, June Soomer, called on the countries of the region to share information, experiences and best practices in the treatment of the new coronavirus. (Text and photo: PL)
