Havana, May 22.- "In fighting the pandemic, we have achieved great results, greater in the current conditions that the country is facing," said President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on Thursday, by once again exchanging Covid-19 with the group of scientists.
During the dialogue with specialists in the Palace of the Revolution, the president stressed that, before the disease reached the national territory, "we already had a complex situation caused by the blockade and the Helms Burton Act”.
However, "the scientific result we have achieved has given the country tremendous visibility and prestige" Avoiding a rebound is the goal and then finding a vaccine as soon as possible.
Díaz-Canel referred to the modes of action that should be maintained when Cuba begins to move towards normality, avoiding a rebound of the epidemic, including hygiene measures, physical distancing, active research, and care to the vulnerable, social responsibility and constant research and study on the disease.
The President especially highlighted "the contribution of Cuban biotechnology in the fight against Covid-19, both with the anti-CD6 monoclonal antibody, from Molecular Immunology, and the CIGB 258 peptide, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology."
Both are playing an important role and are giving results in avoiding the death of critically ill patients, and also in preventing the sick from reaching those states, he said. (Text: www.presidencia.gob.cu) (Photo: Revolution Studies)
