Havana, May 27 .- After a new day decreasing figures on people admitted for Covid-19 care and surveillance, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, reported that the 2,022 figure reported at the end of Monday is the lowest since last April 22.
In general, the country has a low incidence rate of 1.6 per 100,000 inhabitants, with 180 cases in the last two weeks.
Only nine local transmission events remain active, in the provinces of Havana, Mayabeque, Villa Clara, Ciego de Ávila and Holguín, and Isla de la Juventud, with Centro Habana municipality the only one to report four new cases.
The Governor of Ciego de Ávila, Tomás Martín Venegas, explained that of the 95 cases that have been confirmed in the province, 90 have already been discharged.
About the local transmission event that remains active in Turiguanó, he noted that out of 1,678 inhabitants, 1,132 have been studied, 98.4% of which have yielded negative results. In that town disinfection activities were increased for three consecutive days in all homes and streets, with direct advice from a work team from the Ministry of Public Health.
Later in the meeting, the heads of Industries and Construction commented on the work of both ministries, which, without stopping their participation in the country's prioritized programs, have also played an important role in confronting the new coronavirus.
Industrial production of chlorine remains stable. More than two million face masks have been produced; the textile and garment companies have developed some 60,000 gowns, caps and pajamas most of which have already been delivered to the Public Health system in all territories; and 416,000 face shields have been made for medical personnel.
Along with these actions, the Minister explained that they continue to work intensively in the repair of pulmonary ventilators and ambulances, as well as in the maintenance of elevators and climate equipment in hospital institutions and the biopharmaceutical sector.
On the other hand, the Minister of Construction, René Mesa Villafaña, specified that they have carried out actions for the conditioning of isolation rooms, the rehabilitation of hospitals and the repair of kitchen areas, laundry rooms and hydraulic systems.
