Lung ventilators made in Cuba to be issued in October

Havana, Jul 13.- The first 500 lung ventilators manufactured in Cuba, very useful in treating critically ill patients with Covid-19, will be ready Cuba next October, local media reported.

The medical devices, produced entirely in the country, in addition to offering assisted ventilation, are capable of measuring oxygen and have a high range of support without electricity, detailed national television.

The press release states that after the first confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, the Cuban government tried to buy lung fans to the Swiss companies IMT Medial AG and Acutronic , but in April those entities were acquired by the US company Vyaire Medical Inc.

The project to obtain the equipment is carried out at the Neuroscience Center in Havana, with funds from the European Union, the NGO MediCuba- Switzerland, and different campaigns by the Cuban societies of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Bioengineering , reported the Granma newspaper. (PL) (Photo: File)
