Camagüey, Jul 21.- A stable evolution is presented by patients referred to hospitals in this city after being hit by a lightning in an electrical storm the day before at kilometer 19 on the Playa Florida highway, south Camaguey, injuring 14 people and killing two of them.
The electric shock reached two minors, who were transferred to the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital, in this area; both present normal vital signs.
Nariel Rivera Paz, 17 years old, was sent from the Florida Pediatric Hospital while manifesting cramps and a burn wound on his left shoulder blade. He is currently stable.
Adrián Cruz Álvarez, 15 years old, later entered the Eduardo Agramonte Piña with hypertension, a consequence of the emotional trauma experienced during the meteorological event.
The rest of victims, some with minor burns, were treated at the Manuel Piti Fajardo Hospital, in the Florida town.
Data provided by the Provincial Center for Disaster Risk Reduction in Camagüey indicate that electric shocks are a frequent cause of death in Cuba, reporting 65 fatal cases on average each year. (ACN) (Photo: File)
