Camagüey, Aug 7.- The Literary Crusade, organized by the Camagüey branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), returns from today Friday until next day 14 with various activities in the Casa del Joven Creatador in this city and in some municipalities.
A collective exhibition of visual arts called Punto de Partida, along with the presentation of promotional capsules by artists from the AHS, will open the 17th edition of the event tonight at the organization's local headquarters, and later, also at the Café Literario La Region, in the very House of the organization, the provincial president Ihordan Torres, will pronounce the opening speech.
Dedicated to Fidel and the brothers Luís and Sergio Saíz Montes de Oca, the association that brings together young writers and artists Cubans up to 35 years old, carry out this national event every year.
Ivis Martínez, main speaker of the association, also explained that writers, oral narrators, troubadours and clowns will reach six municipalities in the region to share the works of authors in the territory and will make tours of places of interest, among other initiatives, always complying with hygienic measures and social distancing.
The Literary Café will host every day performances by troubadours, talks, concerts, book and magazine presentations, and poetry recitals.
The traditional planting of the tree dedicated to the birthday of Fidel Castro, will take place in the afternoon in the Botanical Park of this city, starring the members of the AHS.
After several years of inactivity, the Bustos Domecq Literary Contest is resumed, in which authors from Havana, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo participated, according to Evelin Queipo, a member of the national executive and head of the Literature Section of the AHS in Camagüey.
Considered one of the most important literary events for young Cubans, La Crusade Literaria reaffirms itself as a space for the inclusion of new exponents of literature, and an opportunity to share good moments. (Text and photo: ACN)
