Díaz-Canel calls to avoid indiscipline and negligence with Covid-19



Havana, Aug 8.- The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today rejected indiscipline and negligence in the confrontation with Covid-19 in the country, which reported a rebound in the last week.

In a message published on his official Twitter account, the president recognized the country's efforts in the fight against the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus against irresponsible attitudes. 

The total number of confirmed cases in the Caribbean nation rose this day to 2,888 after the addition of 59 new cases, according to figures from the Ministry of Public Health. 

The rebound of the disease caused that the capital returns to the local transmission phase since this Saturday with six events in the municipalities of Habana del Este, La Lisa and Marianao. 

Since Thursday, the return of the western province of Artemisa to the second phase of recovery was also announced as a result of the three open events in that territory. 

In the most recent meeting to analyze the epidemiological situation in the country, the president described this setback as a great sacrifice for state institutions, the private sector and citizens in general.  Díaz-Canel recalled the economic effort that represents a worsening of the epidemiological scenario in the context of global crisis and the pressures caused by the United States blockade of the island in the current circumstances.   (Text and photo: PL)
