Camagüey, Sep 17.- With almost all the medical personnel who worked in the previous epidemic phase, in the Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja military hospital, in this city, the treatment of Covid-19 patients from the provinces of Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey is guaranteed.
Until this Wednesday, 116 patients remain at the institution, six of them from Camaguey, four positive for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, one suspect and another under observation; the rest belongs to the neighboring territory, which reports the highest infestation rate in Cuba.
Of the 110 patients from Ciego, six are reported in serious condition and two in critical condition, one is under surveillance, and the rest have the condition, Cruz Padilla, director of the center, told the Cuban Bullfighting News Agency.
According to the daily report of the Ministry of Public Health, due to Covid-19, a 71-year-old adult from the municipality of Ciego de Ávila died yesterday in that hospital unit with some associated diseases.
Cruz Padilla emphasized that the current outbreak of Covid-19 has been the period of greatest occupation of the hospital, and constitutes the most complex stage, since they are mostly patients with associated comorbidities, which has determined the adoption of quick and timely decisions to save their lives.
There are 11 capacities for the assistance of those who require intensive care, out of a total of 121 beds available in the medical center, in addition to two machines placed for those in need of the hemodialysis method.
The doctor stressed that, as on the previous occasion, it is proceeding in accordance with the protocols established at the country level, an element evaluated by the same national commission that is in Ciego de Ávila, and there is the essential experience in the event of receiving several cases at a time.
He added that the hospital will start a room for moderate high-risk patients, who will undergo a more targeted treatment depending on whether they do not reach the state of seriousness.
