Havana, Sep 22.- With 407 patients diagnosed with Covid-19 in the country during the past week, this is the one with the highest figures of infected people since the beginning of the epidemic in the national territory, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, ratified this Monday.
As detailed before the Task Force for the Prevention and Control of Covid, headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in Havana and Ciego de Ávila, with 192 and 132 patients diagnosed in the last seven days, respectively, 80% of the new cases reported in Cuba gather.
After a complex week, the third in which the diagnosis of people with Covid-19 in Cuba increased consecutively, Portal Miranda affirmed that the behavior of the disease in those provinces, where cases continued to be confirmed positive in all its municipalities during the week that ends, shows the high spread of the virus that exists in both territories.
During the day, the head of Public Health also reported the closure of two local transmission events in the capital's municipality of Arroyo Naranjo: La Castellana and Electric Distribution, in which no cases were reported since September 4.
In this way, he pointed out, the number of those events that remain active in the country falls to 23, out of the 86 that have started since the confrontation with the epidemic began.
When evaluating the different events and active controls at the moment, Portal Miranda specified that the local transmission event opened last Saturday, in construction work camps of Tourism, in the Matanzas municipality of Cárdenas, correspond to seven of the 50 new patients informed this Monday Cuba. Six are from the territory of Cárdenas itself and one from the municipality of Unión de Reyes, and all were isolated in their respective camps, where quarantine measures have been established.

From Ciego de Ávila, a province that at the end of the most recent week maintained a high transmission of the disease, with an average of 18.9 daily cases, Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas noted that of the five patients reported in the day, three are contacts of confirmed cases and in two the source of infection could not be specified.
He explained that 19 outbreak controls are active in the territory, two of them open during the day on Monday: one in the municipality of Baraguá and another in the psychiatric hospital in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila, where two positive people were confirmed. In this institution - he assured - PCR samples have already been taken from 100% of the workers and patients.
In the case of Havana, where it continues to be vital to deepen the epidemiological investigation, carry out increasingly higher quality investigations in the communities and promptly isolate suspects and contacts to contain the transmission of the disease, Governor Reinaldo García Zapata assured that as work philosophy maintains a detailed analysis of the 13 local transmission events and 141 controls of active foci in the province, where in the last 15 days 401 patients with the disease have been confirmed, which maintains in that period the trend of increasing the incidence rate per one hundred thousand inhabitants.
On the other hand, with 32 patients diagnosed in the past two weeks, one of them reported on Monday, in the province of Sancti Spíritus the main confrontational actions are currently concentrated in the community of Venegas, belonging to the municipality of Yaguajay, where The cases that have been detected are linked to the contagion generated in the “Costa Sur” hotel in Trinidad.
According to Governor Teresita Romero Rodríguez, as part of the epidemiological work carried out there, a constant study and surveillance of the population is maintained. The number of people investigated rises to 712, of which 446 are direct contacts of positive cases and the rest correspond to studies in risk groups.
Through videoconference, during the working meeting - where the Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa was present, and led by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz - the government authorities of Artemisa, Mayabeque and Camagüey, provinces that also reported cases this Monday and that in the course of the last 15 days have reported 39, 14 and eight cases, respectively.
All of them work systematically in the search for possible contacts and suspects, a way of acting that constitutes a guarantee to minimize contagion and spread of the disease.
