Havana, Sep 23.- This Tuesday, 597 patients with a diagnosis of Covid-19 remained admitted to Cuba's hospitals, of them 81 reported in the last official part offered by the Ministry of Public Health. Both figures show the permanence in time of the outbreak of the epidemic in the national territory that began at the end of July.
In the nearly 200 days that have elapsed since the first three cases in the country were reported on March 11, 5,222 positive for SARS-CoV-2 have been reported, of which 4,506 have managed to overcome this dangerous disease. Three people with a critical health condition due to the virus and eight in serious condition are currently being cared for in intensive care units.
Until the time of the meeting of the Temporary Government Work Group - headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz - 117 people had died in the country. In this regard, the Head of State again warned about the fatality in the province of Ciego de Ávila, the territory with the highest incidence rate of positive cases per hundred thousand inhabitants in the last 15 days and that adds five days with reports of deaths, something that, said the president, had not happened in our country for a long time.
The analysis of the situation in Havana, Ciego de Ávila, Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus and Holguín - the five provinces that confirmed new cases this Tuesday - as well as Artemisa, was dedicated to the meeting that is held every afternoon at the Palace of the Revolution: space where government decisions are made to control the epidemic.
