Havana, Sep 26.- This Friday the meeting of co-presidents of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission took place in Moscow, headed by the Cuban Vice Prime Minister, Ricardo Cabrisas, and the Vice President of the Russian Government, Yuri Borisov.
In the exchange, the current state of economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations was reviewed, as well as the need to promote the prioritized projects that are executed between both parties.
The website of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba (MINCEX) reports that, in this regard, it was agreed to continue advancing in all spheres of common interest for both countries in the current difficult conditions.
Cabrisas offered detailed information on the current situation of the Cuban economy, affected by the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation and by the scourge of the current pandemic.
He also explained the actions that his country undertakes based on its economic recovery, and among these he mentioned accelerating the increase in exports, replacing imports, the development of food and energy programs, and advancing foreign direct investment.
The Russian Vice President conveyed the gratitude of the Russian Federation to the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and to the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz- Canel, for the permanent support of the Caribbean country to the joint political course in the development of international relations.
The meeting was attended by the Cuban side Julio Garmendía, Cuban ambassador to Russia; Ana Teresita González Fraga, First Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment; Emilio Lozada García, general director of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Cuba; Isaac Hernández Pérez, director of the Central Bank of Cuba, and other officials.
Both parties agreed to hold the next session of the Intergovernmental Commission in Havana, before the end of this year, as well as to immediately convene the preparatory Working Groups for said event.
