Havana, Sep 26.- The young Cuban percussionist and composer Yissi García, leader of the Bandancha group and one of the most prominent drummers in the country's contemporary jazz scene, premiered Verano Groove on networks, an exceptional album in her career.
It is a totally different album to all the music that I usually compose for my projects. It shows a little the other part of my musical field, my taste for chill music and electronic sounds, the artist told the digital promotion platform Bonus Track.
Verano Groove, prepared during these times of necessary confinement in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, is composed of seven chill out and smooth jazz songs that could well be the soundtrack of these fiery months, the publication highlights.
With this material, Yissy García also ventured into mixing and mastering, and counted on the collaborations of the renowned pianist and composer Harold López- Nussa on the song Chillin con Tumbao; of the guitarist and composer Elmer Ferrer in Always Sunny in Havana; and the Brazilian Munir Hossn in the theme song of the phonogram.
The artist herself has confessed that it is an album to listen to with friends, in a sunset next to the waves of the sea, looking for an atmosphere of relaxation, good vibes and inspiration. You just have to hit play to feel that the music takes you to all those places, highlights the press release.
He also refers that according to García, what at first was a hobby, will be part of his career as an independent artist, and that for the moment he does not plan to make more music of this style, nor does he plan to mix this sound with Bandancha, with which he reported be working on a new production titled Light.
Completing the Summer Groove list are the songs Sunset Loop, Sunflowers, Bikini Club and Frappé .
The renowned drummer has been awarded the Special Prize of the Fiesta del Tambor contest (2005); and a Special Mention for Interpretation and Second Place for interpretation, at the JoJazz International Young Jazz Festival in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
