Havana and Ciego de Ávila fight hard against Covid-19



La Habana, 26 sep.- The epidemiological situation of Havana and Ciego de Avila continues to set the course of the epidemic in Cuba: 40 cases reported Covid-19 Friday, 23 correspond to the nation's capital and 17 to the central territory. Also in both provinces there are 14 of the 18 active local broadcast events in the country.

To the analysis of these two territories, as well as Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus and Artemisa, the Temporary Group headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, dedicated its working session.

From the Palace of the Revolution, and through videoconference with local authorities, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Regla Angulo Pardo, reported that 572 patients with Covid-19 remain active in the country, all admitted to hospitals. Of them, 98.8% with a stable clinical evolution. Until the moment of the meeting, two patients were reported in critical condition and five seriously, figures that have been decreasing in the daily reports issued by the MINSAP. 

Since March, he said, in the Greater Antilles there have been 5,350 positive cases, of which 4,658 are already recovered patients. The deceased amount to 118, although none corresponding to this Friday, for a fatality that drops to 2.20%.

On the contrary, among the statistics that instead of decreasing they have to be maintained or increased, he specified that the number of people surveyed in the communities exceeded five million.

Angulo Pardo also announced that the local broadcast event of San Cristóbal was closed. Meanwhile, it was decided to open a new one at kilometer three and a half of the road to Sanguily, in the province of Ciego de Ávila, which has 16 patients.

Precisely in this territory - the one with the highest incidence rate of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 15 days - Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas pointed out that six open local transmission events are recorded there.

With an accumulated of 363 people who have been diagnosed with Covid-19, 195 remain active with the disease, of which 187 are admitted in the province of Camagüey and eight in Morón, due to the contagion in its two most important health institutions.

From the field, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, who is there at the head of a team of specialists, assured that they continue to work hard in Ciego de Ávila, reinforcing all the indicated measures, to contain the contagion as soon as possible possible.

In Havana, a province also complicated by the dispersion of its cases, Governor Reinaldo García Zapata updated that, of a total of 3,829 PCR samples, 23 cases were confirmed, 21 of which were previously admitted to isolation centers. The remaining two came out of the follow-up that is being given to people who leave these institutions destined for isolation. In the capital, 297 patients are active in hospitals that care for people confirmed with Covid-19.

García Zapata explained that 114 outbreak controls in the city and eight events of local transmission of the disease remain open. However, he commented, the files are being prepared to propose to the Temporary Working Group of the Government the closure of two events in Arroyo Naranjo and one in Regla, during the next few hours.
