Camagüey, Sep 29.- Around 20 patients are seen daily in the clinical consultations of the cardiology service of the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Pediatric Hospital in Camagüey, according to information provided by Carlos Oliva Céspedes, head of the Cardiopediatric Network in the city.
In addition, he commented that another number of people are also assisted through echocardiography services, as well as in the prenatal diagnosis consultations that are carried out at the Provincial Center for Medical Genetics.
In this sense, he mentioned that prenatal diagnosis constitutes an important point in the prevention of heart diseases that endanger the lives of infants at an early age, which, through these consultations, can be detected during pregnancy.
Likewise, Oliva Céspedes stated that, since the emergence of the Cardiology service at the “Eduardo Agramonte Piña” Pediatric Hospital in 1 983, more than 800 children with different conditions have been treated.
However, he explained that, among the new challenges that the Cardiopediatric Network has, is medical care, through clinical monitoring, for adults with congenital conditions, who were treated when they were infants. (By Ricardo de la Paz Cervantes / Radio Camagüey) (Photo: Internet).
