Camagüey, Oct 23.- Today, Omara Durand has become the face of the Latin American Paralympic movement, her immediate goal is the Tokyo 2021 event, and for this she enlists in the province of Camagüey.

Her extraordinary performance at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games prompted her in the social media survey conducted by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), which named her the best athlete of the last decade.

Durand, five times Paralympic champion and world record holder in 100, 200 and 400 meters in the T12 category (deep vision weaknesses), managed to be ahead by 499-229 votes, to the British cyclist Sarah Storey.

Despite the time at home due to the pandemic, the improvement in the health situation in Cuba today allows her to meet again with her coach and other athletes.
