Camagüey, Oct 27.- The Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz international airport, in this city, will increase its operations from next Thursday, from the incorporation of the airline Fly AllWays which will link Camaguey with Suriname, in addition to the flight that arrives three times a week from Mexico.
The connections between the first mentioned nation and this city are confirmed until March 2021, with a weekly frequency, as happened before the closure of the borders due to the epidemiological situation imposed by Covid-19, he told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) Silvia Ferrer Veranes, head of the airport unit.
Coming from Cancun, in the northern country, the aircraft belonging to the Viva Aerobus arrive at the ramp of the Camaguey station every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, since last October 20, date marked on the calendar by the resumption of the usual services in the local airport during the new normality in Cuba.
With compliance with certified biosecurity standards, the airport received more than 480 passengers at the end of the previous week, including the last 161 who entered Cuba through this route.
Travelers on the first two flights of the Mexican airline had a negative result in PCR tests, applied to all passengers at no cost upon arrival, to rule out the presence of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, Ferrer Veranes said.
Meanwhile, the results of the molecular biology test also carried out this weekend are expected, as established in the protocols for the prevention and control of the pathogen in Cuban terminal areas.
The directive recalled that in the "Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz" they continue with the three established surveillance lines, from the entrance of the means of transport to the airport runway until the exit of the passengers from the terminal.
As of the granting of free circulation with the declaration of health of the plane, the travelers descend and, then in the second of those moments, they go through the body temperature scanner and the health declarations are collected, documents where they reflect their data general and PCR tests are carried out.
Later, they join the channels of Immigration and Foreigners and Customs of the Republic of Cuba and at the last moment, before leaving the campus, their temperature is checked again with digital thermometry.
The mandatory use of the mask, hand washing and disinfection of passenger luggage are the main measures implemented upon arrival, while if any of them have fever or any respiratory symptoms, they are taken to the temporary isolation room to assess whether or not they are referred to specific hospitals.
At the same time, the airport staff have the necessary means of protection, including masks and gloves for those most exposed to a possible contagion, especially professionals in the health sector.
Meanwhile, those who will travel to the outside of the country have their body temperature taken when entering the departure lounge and must sanitize their hands, although dispensers with disinfectant solutions were placed throughout the terminal.
Ferrer Veranes commented that during the operations a disinfection process is carried out every hour, and at the end a deeper one of all surfaces.
Last August, in the “Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz” compliance with the biosafety protocols was verified during an aircraft arrival drill, after having been certified the previous month by specialists from the International Sanitary Control of the Ministry of Public Health to the restoration of their normal functions.
