Jupiter and Saturn align and get closer in December

These celestial bodies are seen without a telescope on the southwest horizon: they are located in the constellation of Sagittarius, and Jupiter is distinguished by being "the brighter of the two", the scientists point out.

Another phenomenon related to the largest planets in our solar system and known as the great conjunction, will take place on December 21.

During that event, Jupiter and Saturn will get as close to each other as possible since 1623, astronomy expert Jamie Carter explained in Forbes magazine. (Text and photo: RT)
