Camagüey prepares for international tourism



Camagüey, Nov 23.- Facing the high season for tourism, the province of Camagüey is preparing its facilities in the Santa Lucía resort, which plans to receive international clients from December, including from the Canadian and Russian markets.

Visitors will find hotels with a renovated image and comfort, to which is added compliance with the safety and hygiene protocols established in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, as part of a transformation program carried out in order to adapt to the epidemiological situation. the country has been living since last March.

These conditions, together with the training of its workers, developed by Formatur teachers and business trainers from the province, were certified by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) in the hotels and stores of Santa Lucía.

The beginning of the high season is scheduled for next month when the Nordwind airline will resume direct flights between Russia and Camagüey through the Ignacio Agramonte International Airport every 10 days, operated by Pegas Touristik , confirmed to the ACN Yuneski Canteli , delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).

Santa Lucía owns four hotels and plans to incorporate the Royal Plant, with five stars and 38 rooms, in the coming year - currently in the process of being delivered to Cubanacán by the construction entities -, to add a thousand 85 lodging capacities in the pole.

At the moment, the Caracol remains open there, which provides services to national clients since the approval of the post-Covid-19 recovery stage, and then they will progressively do so, Mayanabo , Gran Club Santa Lucía and El Brisas, according to the demand from different external markets.

Cubanacán also has six hotels in this city and when the San Juan de Dios comes into operation, the seventh with 28 rooms, whose delivery is completed by the Tourism Real Estate Agency, there will be about one hundred the capacities of that corporation in the capital city .

As a result of these investments, the province will increase to 1,184 the lodgings belonging to the mentioned group.

Kerly Torres Torres , quality specialist in the MINTUR delegation, pointed out that out of 50 institutions to be certified in the territory, 28 already have the most hygienic and safe Tourism status, and the rest are in process, which means that it was carried out inspection, but wait for the approval of the files.
