Camagüey, Nov 23 - In recognition of the performance of its students and workers during the confrontation with Covid-19, the University of Camagüey (UC) Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz received the status of Youths for Life, granted by the National Bureau of the Union of Young Communists.
At the ceremony, held in the Hall of Symbols of that institution, José Ángel Fernández Castañeda, president of the University Student Federation in the country, highlighted the scenarios where the courage, commitment and dedication of future professionals prevailed.
He highlighted the attention to vulnerable families in the communities, the support in isolation centers and the contributions to food production, actions that were carried out in the towns where students and workers live, and in entities of the territory.
The meeting also recognized the role of the new generation and its willingness to undertake any task that supports the Cuban Revolution; and the work in two of the UC headquarters was pondered: José Martí and Manuel Piti Fajardo, which served as provincial isolation centers.
Likewise, it was praised that boys and girls of all careers developed informative materials with the aim of providing guidance on how to face the pandemic from home, without neglecting studies and self-improvement.
With 53 years of history, the University of Camagüey, the first one founded after the triumph of the Revolution, shows with its daily work the formation of values in the new generations, and a work based on satisfying the social needs and political demands that each context.
