Camagüey, Cuba, Nov 1st.- Two months before the year’s end, the members of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) whose main activity is the cultivation of sugar cane, registered an important and profitable overfulfilment in the sale of milk to the Cuban State in Camagüey province.
These farmers delivered more than 90 per cent of their production to the State, proving their fidelity to the Revolution programs which seek to satisfy the people’s needs.
Hitherto, in this line of production, more than 5, 765, 200 liters of cow milk are being sold both to the industrial sector and directly to the consumers.
This guarantees the subsidized supply of this food to the basic food basket in a country where the State pays up to 2.54 pesos to the farmer per one liter of milk, while sells it to the population at 25 cents each. In addition, they contribute to the substitution of powdered milk imports.
The farmers in Camagüey are the main responsible in the supply of milk to the State in this province, and the sugarcane sector workers play an important role in this task. (Pedro Paneque Ruiz/Translated by Yaima Marquez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
