Managua, Jan 19.- Among the legislative priorities of the ruling Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) for the new legislature, the inclusion of life imprisonment in the Penal Code stands out, highlighted deputy Edwin Castro.
For this, it will be necessary to reform Article 37 of the Political Constitution, in a second debate in the plenary session of the National Assembly (parliament), recalled the coordinator of the ruling party (FSLN) bench in statements to Channel 13 Viva Nicaragua.
This year we are going to end all pending Nicaraguan legislation, so that there is legal security for all the people, Castro reaffirmed.
The coordinator of the red-black ancada also referred to the electoral reform, which will be approved prior to the general elections, scheduled for November 7 of this year.
He specified that this legislation will maintain the multi-party system established by the Sandinista Revolution since 1984, when it called Nicaraguans to the polls for the first time. He reiterated that, as announced by the Supreme Electoral Council in the middle of the previous year, new political parties may be created until next June.
In Nicaragua, to date, there are 19 legally registered parties.
Edwin Castro declared that all FSLN deputies will work to strengthen unity between Sandinismo and the people, in order to ensure the electoral victory in November in the United Alianza Nicaragua Triunfa. (Text and photo: PL)
