Havana, Jan 26.- The Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, reiterated today the strong position of support for the principle of China´s integrity.
Through his Twitter account, the official also condemned the interference in the internal affairs of that country.
The principle establishes that the entire Asian giant, including the island of Taiwan, is the same country with a legitimate government that has its capital in Beijing.
Respect for this government policy is a basic requirement for maintaining diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
Beijing has repeatedly criticized the United States for its interactions with Taiwan and the sale of weapons to the separatist government on the island.
This occurs despite the fact that the One China principle was endorsed in joint communiqués that China and the United States signed in 1972, 1978 and 1982.
The international community approved a resolution with 170 votes in 1971 that considers the People's Republic of China the only legitimate representative before the United Nations and recognizes the southern territory as an inalienable part of this nation.
To move towards the complete reunification of the national territory, Beijing also upholds the policy of One Country, Two Systems, applied in the administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao. (Text and photo: PL)
