Camagüey, Aug 1.- A large mobile screen will be travelling around Camaguey, showing Cuban films, video clips, cartoons and other audio-visual materials, as part of the summers holiday activities.
Sponsored by the Video Youth Clubs, this experience began in western Cuba in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav and Ike, the two storms that pummelled the island last year. The artistic brigade, that also included the mobile cinema, remained active until power was fully reinstated.
According to Rolando Pompa Villavicencio, who is in charge of this socio-cultural project in Camaguey, the mobile screen will be install for the first time this Saturday in the village of Haiti, in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Sur, while it will move to the Planta Mecánica District in Camagüey on Sunday.
The screen which is inspired on the mobile cinema that visited rural Cuba back in the 1960’s, is 2x2 meters. (María Irene Maxan de la Celda/ Translated by Gualveris Rosales Sanchez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
