La Paz, Oct 3.- The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) confirmed the registration of 5.243.375 voters for the upcoming judicial elections on Oct. 16.
According to TSE member Ramiro Paredes, the election of Oct. 16 will allow to consolidate democracy, in spite of opposition campaigns while encouraging the participants to use white votes or abstentions.
The TSE boosts an advertisement campaign on merits of 115 candidates while providing information to at least 95 percent of urban and 80 percent of rural citizens, Paredes said.
Since Sept. 1, the media has spread advertisements on the candidates while getting as far as intermediate cities in rural areas, in spite of an opposition campaign to discredit them, Paredes added.
The TSE advertisement campaign consists of 7.000 people, including more than 4.000 notaries, and the rest assists local electoral tribunals to distribute voting materials, Paredes said.
On Oct. 16, the people will vote to elect, for the first time, 56 permanent and substitute judges of the Constitutional Tribunal, Supreme and Agricultural Court, and the Judiciary Council. (Prensa Latina)
