Camaguey, Jul 26.- “The national celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Revolution will be held in Santiago de Cuba”, announced Army General Raul Castro during his speech at the central ceremony in occasion of the Rebelliousness Day, which came to an end in that eastern city.
Yesterday, today and forever; Santiago continues being the same Santiago; highlighted the Cuban President alluding to the singular history of that province, justly known as the cradle of the Revolution.
Before some 10 000 people gathered in the leveled area of the former military fortress (Moncada barrack) turned into a School City after 1959, the Second Secretary of the Communist Party (PCC) Central Committee assured that the fundamental problems and challenges of the country will be on debate with the people, and especially the workers, seeking suitable solutions.
Raul Castro urged all fellow country people to seize the time, to learn from experiences, whereas he ratified how essential is to continue training the latest generations so that they can act with the convictions, steadfastness and loyalty shown by the Cuban Five, unjustly imprisoned in US jails since September 12th, 1998.
Raul also remarked an idea that has been defended by the Commander-in-Chief for almost half a century of struggles for social justice; when he emphasized that we can never forget that this is the Socialist Revolution of the humble, by the humble and for the humble.
And he finally said: To you, Fidel, we dedicate this 55th anniversary of the Moncada assault. (Onelio Castillo Corderí/Translation: Gualveris Rosales Sánchez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
