Camagüey, Mar 12.- The lecture entitled "1959: El kilómetro cero del Cine Cubano" (1959: Kilometre 0 of the Cuban Cinema), given by Luciano Castillo and the historic context in which the Cuban Institute for Movie Art and Industry (ICAIC) called the attention of those attending Wednesday the first theoretical meeting of the National Workshop of Film Criticism which is held in Camagüey.
The event started on Tuesday evening in the Teatro Principal and will last till Friday.
Among other guest in the current edition are participating the ICAIC Vice President Pablo Pacheco, writer Desiderio Navarro and film director Enrique Pineda Barnet.
Actresses Eslinda Núñez, Mirta Ibarra and Verónica Lynn and founders of the ICAIC are also participating in the workshop, and are exchanging experiences about the movie production in this Caribbean nation.
The workshop allows to have flashbacks of documentary and fiction films that were shot in the 1960’s, the screening of attractive movies in the halls Alkázar, Guerrero and Nuevo Mundo and the sales of specialized publications.
The guests and participants in this event will move to the municipality of Vertientes where among other actions, a homage to the late moviemaker Tomás Gutiérrez Alea will be paid. (Yolanda Ferrera Sosa/Translation: Gualveris Rosales Sánchez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
