Camagüey, Sept 28.- Camagüey-born top-notch hammer thrower Yipsy Moreno González was accredited as the first delegate to take part at the 3rd Convention of Young Camagüeyans for the Release of the Cuban Five and against Terrorism which will be held in Nuevitas, October 3-5.

The two-time world champion in hammer throwing (Edmonton 2001 and Paris 2003) and two-time silver medalist (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008) learned about this nomination when visiting the Aurelia Castillo elementary school in Nuevitas.  

While visiting the port town, Moreno was in several community projects and exchanged viewpoints and ideas with colleagues and cadres of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) in this northern municipality.
 

Besides, likely the best woman athlete of Camagüey province ever, visited the  26 de Julio Cement Manufacturing Plant, where she talked to workers and young people of this facility that are members of the Committee in Solidarity with the Cuban 5.  

The 3rd Convention of Young Camagüeyans for the Release of the Cuban Five and against Terrorism has included on its agenda meeting with family members of the Five, masters’ lectures to get updated information on the case, visits to neighbourhoods, cultural and sport activities as well as the awarding ceremony of  Jurado de Millones contest.

This initiative propelled by young Camagüeyans seeks the immediate release of Ramón, Fernando, Gerardo and Antonio from U.S. jails, and it is summoned by the Young Communist League (UJC) in Camagüey and the provincial office of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP).
