Havana, Sep 17.- Some 23 films from a dozen countries will broadcast the Gibara International Film Festival through their official accounts on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube on September 25 and 26, the Organizing Committee announced.

Inaction! Microcine in Isolation Online Show gives its name to the event in which the majority of Latin American films will be screened, from Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Cuba, among other nations.

Last May, the festival called a contest to tell stories about and from the quarantine, and of the 89 works presented, 23 were chosen that will be screened during those dates by Facebook Live from 3:00 p.m. local time, highlights the press release.

Among the selected films are 717 KM, by Camila Rodríguez and Gabriel López (Colombia); A first ceia, by Amina Muniz and Eduardo Roedel (Brazil); Permitted self-indulgence, by Pablo A. Tonatiuh (Mexico); Confinement, by Jimmy Ochoa (Cuba); COVID or not COVID, by Maximiliano Bort, and Crónica 25, by María Laura and Rodrigo Vázquez (Argentina).

As part of the online event, the series All roads lead to cinema will be released, "in which Cuban filmmakers interview musicians, visual artists, writers, and theater artists about the connections between their works with the seventh art," the statement said.

Music will also be an important part of this Show, which will feature concerts by Kelvis Ochoa and Haydée Milanés. (Text and photo: PL)
