Havana, Nov. 24 - The Secretary of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), Homero Acosta Álvarez, received this Tuesday at the National Capitol the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in our country, H.E. Mr. Ma Hui.
In the fraternal meeting, both parties ratified the high priority they give to the ties of friendship and cooperation between both peoples, parties, governments and legislative bodies, forged over six decades of close ties, as well as the willingness to continue strengthening them today.
Homero Acosta thanked China for its invariable stance against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government against our people, and for the Asian country's constant displays of solidarity with Cuba.
He explained some processes developed at this stage by the Cuban Parliament, among them the intense legislative activity, the accountability of the delegate to his electors, the strengthening of Popular Power after the aspects addressed in the 8th Party Congress and the Second Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the PCC, and the day for the 45th anniversary of the organs of People's Power.
For his part, Ma Hui especially recalled that Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China and recognized the results of our country in preventing and confronting COVID-19, especially the achievement of having own vaccines.
He also recalled the virtual exchange held last May between Esteban Lazo Hernández and Li Zhanshu, head of the Cuban Parliament and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, respectively.
Finally, he reiterated the solidarity of his country in the face of the most recent attempts to destabilize our people, and referred to the main milestones of the Sixth Plenary Session of the XIX Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the accumulated historical experience of 100 years efforts of this political organization.
At the end of the exchange, a donation of technological equipment was made official in order to support the activities of the National Assembly.
On the Cuban side, Yumil Rodríguez Fernández, vice president of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission and vice-head of the ANPP Secretariat ; and Omar Torres Olivares, official of the International Relations Commission of the Cuban legislature responsible for the Asia and Oceania region.
