Cuban President participated in event for the 50th anniversary of FEEM

Havana, Dec. 7.- Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba, participated this Sunday in the capital in the ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Federation of High School Students (FEEM) and 56 of the Brigades Youth Techniques (BTJ).

With a shout of: President, what else should we do? The students welcomed the president, who arrived at the meeting unexpectedly and instead of the platform, he took a place with the young people.

At the event, held in the Benito Juárez park, in the municipality of Playa, representatives of several high school students, polytechnic institutes, trade schools and sports training gathered.

Díaz- Canel thanked the young people who in these days have taken to the streets of the country to defend the peace and tranquility of the nation.

He recalled that the Revolution exists to have a better country, that if it is not possible yet, "it is because of our own mistakes, but above all because of the implacable blockade that the United States persists in applying to Cuba.

"When we think of development projects we do not think of divisions between revolutionaries and non-revolutionaries, but for all the people."

He reaffirmed the will of the country to proceed with respectful dialogue and asked young people to be present in all the battles that are taking place today, especially the economic one, in order to be able to satisfy the real deficiencies that affect the population at once.

He repudiated the acts of terrorism to which altruism, humanism and the fairness with which they work on the Island are opposed.

The celebration featured a performance by the children's company La Colmenita, the troubadours Marta Campos, Danilo Vázquez, Karel García, Annie Garcés, Christopher Simpsom, the Ámbar Duo and a presentation from the Cuban school of Wushu.

The athletes Yumilka Ruis, Mercedes Pérez, Ana Fidelia Quirot and Leydi Laura Moya also accompanied the young people in their celebration. (ACN) (Photo: Twitter profile @ DiazCanelB)
