Camagüey, Dec. 8 - As a result of the creative will of the National Union of Cuban Historians (Unhic) and the Cuban Book Institute, the days to promote reading take place in December Read history, a unique way of paying homage to the 62nd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.
In Camagüey, the event will take place between December 9 and 12, in a sequence of panels, conferences, conversations and book presentations, by historians, researchers and cultural promoters, whose purpose is to motivate interest in history to through the healthy pleasure of reading.
The Santa Cecilia Convention Center, in this city, will host the inaugural session, this time dedicated to highlighting the contributions to the historiography of the intellectuals, now deceased, Gustavo Sed Nieves and Elda Cento Gómez, of recognized endorsement in the treatment of neuralgic issues of national life.
Specially invited to the event, which also has the complicity of the affiliates of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and the Hermanos Saiz Association, will be the 2017 Luis Álvarez Álvarez National Prize for Literature, who will give the lecture The history and the culture in Cuba: unity and transcendence.
For four days, the project Leer la historia will be present in seven Camagüey municipalities, whose bookstores, museums, cultural houses and cultural complexes have conceived a program aimed not only at specialists, but open to a diverse public that is interested in historical issues.
Ricardo Muñoz Gutiérrez, president of the provincial branch of Unhic, explained that it is an invitation to dialogue and reflection, with the purpose of strengthening the interpretive and critical approach, from which historical events linked to each other and not as simple anecdotal dates.
