Havana, Jan 22.- The Ministry of Culture, at the proposal of the Cuban Book Institute, has adopted the decision to cancel the 30th edition of the International Book Fair of Havana 2021, planned to take place in the first fortnight of the month of February. Likewise, the subsequent tour of the same throughout the country is suspended, reports a press release.
This decision responds to the need to act with extreme responsibility in the face of the epidemiological situation facing the country. It has been taken into account that the event, by its nature, calls for massive popular participation, incompatible with the health measures aimed at successfully facing the Covid-19 epidemic, the statement added.
The Cuban Book Institute will inform in due time the realization of other activities to promote books and literature that contribute to the enjoyment of the Cuban family when conditions allow it, concludes the note, dated in Havana. (ACN) (Photo: File)
