Havana, Mar 2.- As part of the Covid-19 protocol, which begins today in this capital, Nasalferón will be applied to contacts of positive cases and their isolated contacts at home.
This was highlighted on his Twitter account by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, adding that the use of the drug in this population at risk will then be extended to the rest of the country.
“We continue to refine the # Covid19 confrontation. From today in Havana, the contacts of positives and their relatives isolated in the houses will receive the nasalferon. The experience will then be extended to the rest of the country. # SomosCuba . # CubaViva ”, wrote the president.
The agreement transpired this Monday at the meeting of the Government's temporary working group for the prevention and control of the pandemic, headed by the President and the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura.
The administration of the drug, which will be at the home level, will be in charge of the family's doctors and nurses, and of students from the last years of the Medicine career.
According to a note from the website of the Presidency of Cuba, the purpose of the country is that no contact remains without institutionally isolating, but in territories such as Havana, where the highest number of infections is reported, home isolation conceives measures similar to care of isolation centers.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, deputy prime minister, emphasized that this experience, which includes daily visits passes, will be systematically monitored to rectify any deviation it suffers.
The Nasalferón is a drug of Cuban biotechnology, Interferon derivative, which according to experts, prevents replication of the SARS-CoV virus-2 and modifies the number of colonies present in the body, in addition to strengthening the immune system.
With 93 percent effectiveness, it has been applied to medical personnel in the red zone of hospitals where Covid-19 is fought, and to health collaborators.
During the month of January, the drug has also been supplied to travelers and their partners, and to tourism workers. (Text and photo: ACN)
