Havana, Mar 4.- Deputies to the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) will be elected today in provincial meetings.
Such meetings will take place in strict compliance with health protocols given the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19.
Once elected, the delegates will receive the documents scheduled for debate at the congress, which will take place in this capital from April 16 to 19.
In each province, the elected delegates will carry out study, exchange, clarification and analysis sessions.
This will happen between March 15 and 20, also strictly complying with physical distancing and other hygienic-sanitary measures.
According to the Granma newspaper, the official organ of the Central Committee of the PCC, all opinions derived from these meetings will be collected and evaluated by the working committees of Congress.
Since the end of last year, a broad and democratic process of electing pre-candidates to delegates to Congress has taken place in the PCC's organizations, from which thousands of valued fellow nominees emerged, said Granma.
The Congress of the PCC will mark the continuation of the generational renewal of the Cuban revolutionary process and will provide space to evaluate the Guidelines of the economic and social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, among other transcendental issues. (Text and photo: PL)
