Havana, Apr 19 - The Cuban socialist Revolution is firm and active 90 miles from the United States, said today the first secretary of the Communist Party (PCC), Miguel Díaz- Canel.
This was expressed at the closing of the 8th. Congress of the PCC, whose new Central Committee elected him to the highest position, and also did so for the members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the leading political organization of the Caribbean country.
The also President of the Republic said that the conclave was a historic milestone for the continuity of the revolutionary process and praised the history and performance of Army General Raúl Castro, who concluded his term as First Secretary.
"He will be consulted on the strategic decisions with the greatest weight for the destiny of the nation, he will always be present, well aware of everything," said Díaz- Canel.
Thank you for the example and the drive, the strength, the confidence and for helping us to believe in ourselves, he said.
The first secretary of the PCC affirmed that what he receives today are not positions and tasks, it is a heroic and enormous work.
He also stated that the generation represented by Fidel and Raúl Castro can affirm that the revolution does not end with it, since it formed new generations that will now give continuity to the revolutionary process.
That history is summed up in people and unity, which is the Party, he declared.
