Pyongyang, Apr 19.- The secretary general of the Korean Labor Party (PTC), Kim Jong Un, today congratulated the newly elected first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz- Canel, an election that he described as a guarantee and continuity for the revolution.
In a message sent to the president of the Caribbean nation, Kim stated that the appointment to such high responsibility is the continuity of the revolutionary cause from one generation to the other, initiated and developed under the leadership of comrades Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro.
The also president of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) stressed that the election of Díaz- Canel is the expression of the absolute support, high confidence and great hope of all the militants of his party and the Cuban people.
His selection in the VIII Party Congress, which ends today, also constitutes a firm guarantee so that the Cuban Revolution can vigorously advance along the path of independence, justice and socialism, inheriting the idea and will of the previous leaders, the text remarks.
He adds that it is also the way for the Cuban people to continue their steady march full of faith and optimism towards the socialist future.
Kim stated that he was sure that the brotherly people of Cuba, firmly united around the Central Committee of the Communist Party, headed by Díaz- Canel, will firmly defend the revolutionary conquests and build the independent and prosperous socialist state, deploying the struggle to materialize the resolutions of the Congress.
Referring to the relations between the two parties and countries, the DPRK leader noted that they have been consolidated and strengthened 'in the course of overcoming all the challenges of history together.
He pointed out that these ties were established from the deep friendship and brotherly relations between the great leaders of the peoples of Korea and Cuba, Kim Il Sung and Fidel Castro Ruz, respectively.
The President of State Affairs of the DPRK reiterated the firm will to further develop the traditional friendship and unity, and the fraternal relations of cooperation between the two parties and countries in the path of struggle for the common cause.
