Hanoi, Apr 20.- The general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, today expressed his admiration for Raúl Castro's revolutionary career and thanked the Cuban leader for the contributions to the friendship between the two countries.
Phu Trong praised Raúl's absolute dedication to the ideals of the Revolution and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and his significant contributions to building socialism in the Caribbean nation.
He also congratulated him on the successful celebration of the VIII Congress of the PCC, and asserted that his decision not to re-elect himself as first secretary shows full confidence in the new leaders of the country, who, he said, are faithful successors of the thought of Fidel Castro and of his own. At that event, the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz- Canel, was elected to that position. The Vietnamese leader also sent him a congratulatory message.
Phu Trong stressed that Raúl has been a close, reliable friend and companion of the Vietnamese Party, State and people for more than six decades, wishing him health and inviting him to visit the Indochinese nation.
