Brussels, April 20 - The Belgian Coordinator against the Blockade of Cuba and the Cubanismo.be association confirmed today their participation on Sunday in a mobilization to reject the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by the United States on the island.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the representative of the Coordinator, Wim Leysens, specified that a call was circulated to the 40 member organizations of the movement to go to the central Atomium esplanade, in a new caravan called by the Association of Cuban Residents in Belgium (CubaBel).
Also the president of Cubanismo.be, Isabelle Vanbrabant, announced the presence of the solidarity organization in the activity, similar to the one held on March 28, as part of a world day against the blockade.
CubaBel responded to the call of the Cuban-American professor Carlos Lazo, promoter of the Puentes de Amor project, to develop a worldwide caravan for the end of the unilateral sanctions dictated by Washington, which weigh on the Cuban family.
Lazo urged men and women of good will, beyond creeds and ideologies to participate in the mobilization that he described as a galactic mega caravan, dedicated to demanding the end of the blockade, a policy applied for more than 60 years and intensified during the administration of Donald Trump (2017-2021) with more than 240 measurements.
The Europa por Cuba channel also convened a world day against the siege, scheduled for June 6 to 12, a few days before a new vote in the UN General Assembly, on June 23, for a resolution on the need to lift the blockade, a text similar to the one conclusively approved by that forum 28 times since 1992.
