Camagüey strengthens COVID-19 sanitary protocols and restrictions

Camagüey, Apr 21.- The Ministry of Public Health maintains the various sanitary restrictions in this city today despite more favorable rates in the battle against COVID-19.

This province, despite reporting in the last fifteen days less than 200 people infected with SARS-CoV-2, does not neglect the rates because scientific studies ensure the presence and possible spread of the disease in the territory.

As stated in the most recent Provincial Defense Council, Jesús Llambías, director of Hygiene and Epidemiology, despite the favorable records of the graphs “we cannot lower our guard and remove the restrictions”.

Without neglecting preventive measures, the provincial tourism authorities for their part decided to keep the Islazul chain facilities open to vacationers who remain hosted, while sanitary standards are renforced, especially in the Santa Lucía area, north of the provincial capital.

Emphasis is also placed on taking the temperature with digital technology, the disinfection of hands with hydroalcoholic gel, as well as the constant cleaning of equipment for gastronomy and different services.

To care for infected patients in Camagüey and the neighboring province of Ciego de Ávila, the health authorities maintain a medical infrastructure ready with the Amalia Simoni and Militar hospitals, as well as isolation centers in the 13 municipalities of the region.

In addition to the healthcare institutions for those affected by COVID-19, Camagüey has a Molecular Biology Laboratory in the testing phase, and nine scientific centers to take on the Ultra Microanalytical System that allows samples to be analyzed. (Text and photo: PL)
