Cuba confirms 1,162 new COVID-19 confirmed cases, 46 of them from Camagüey



Havana, May 7 - According to the part of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on COVID-19 in the country, issued with the end of May 6, 46 new cases were confirmed in the province of Camagüey, distributed as follows by municipalities:

Camagüey: 34 (29 contacts of confirmed cases and 5 imported).

Florida: 4 (3 contacts of confirmed cases and 1 imported).

Minas: 2 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Nuevitas: 3 (imported).

Sibanicú: 2 (contacts of confirmed cases).

Sierra de Cubitas: 1 (contact of confirmed case).

At the close of this Thursday, May 6, 22,082 patients have been admitted, 3,327 suspects, 13,124 under surveillance and 5,631 confirmed active.

For COVID-19, 23,282 samples were studied, resulting in 1,162 positive samples. The country accumulates 3 million 787 thousand 896 samples carried out and 113 thousand 876 positives.

Of the total number of cases (1,162): 1,66 were contacts of confirmed cases; 54 with a source of infection abroad; 42 without a specified source of infection. Of the 1,162 cases diagnosed, 605 were female and 557 males.

41.8% (486) of the 1,162 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 56,555 that represents 49.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 1,162 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (182), from 20 to 39 years old (387), from 40 to 59 years old (385) and over 60 (208 cases).
