Havana, May 7 - The resident representative in Cuba of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Maribel Gutiérrez, reported via Twitter that the island is progressing in the preparation of a new Financing Request to access the Mechanism of Global Fund Response to COVID-19.
“#Cuba advances in the preparation of a new Financing Request to access the Response Mechanism to # COVID19 of @ TheGlobalFund. @PNUDCUBA @ MINSAPCuba and the Country Coordination Mechanism. @MINCEX_CUBA,” Gutiérrez tweeted.
In another communication on that Social Network, the UNDP representative in Cuba indicated that investments are planned to control and contain COVID-19, as well as to mitigate the impact on the National Response to HIV and strengthen health and community systems.
The Global Fund approved a new response mechanism in April 2020 to support countries in their fight against COVID-19, and mitigate the impact on HIV, tuberculosis and malaria programs and systems for Health.
This response mechanism to COVID-19 authorizes a funding of $ 500 million dollars (USD) and indicates that it will support directly through the acquisition of diagnostic means and personal protective equipment, as well as other supplies for emergency response. (ACN) (Photo: File)
