Havana, June 8 - President Miguel Díaz- Canel congratulated Cuban legal workers today on the occasion of celebrating the Day of Legal Workers in Cuba.
On the social network Twitter, the president highlighted their contribution to the legal system of the nation, after the approval of the new Constitution in 2019.
The Magna Carta defines Cuba as a socialist state of law and social justice, a democratic, independent and sovereign state, organized with everyone and for the good of all.
It also determines human dignity as the supreme value that sustains the recognition and exercise of constitutionally consecrated rights and duties.
With this commemoration, Cuba remembers June 8, 1865, the date on which the pro-independence hero Ignacio Agramonte developed his graduate thesis to receive a degree in Civil and Canon Law.
The Cuban national conscience, forged in the heat of the independence struggle, has been closely linked to the committed legal task, so that history and legislation have multiple communicating vessels, the Granma newspaper pointed out when recalling the anniversary. (Text and photo: PL)
