Managua, June 8 - The Association of Cuban Residents in Nicaragua Antonio Maceo y Grajales denounced through a statement the anti-Cuban show that the European Parliament intends to mount.
The Legislative of the European Union has called an artificial debate on what they have called the political situation and human rights in Cuba, the group recalled.
This group of Cuban residents considers that such action has a clear political motivation in order to mount an anti-Cuban show, through which they intend to hinder relations between the Island and the European Union.
At the same time, it would be an attempt to tarnish the sure and forceful triumph in the United Nations over the Cuban resolution against the US blockade, which will take place on the 23rd, they pointed out.
The text recalls that in the territory of the European Union itself, in this case Italy and Andorra, Cuba offered its helping hand with disinterest and generosity, in reference to the work of the medical brigades that faced the COVID-19 pandemic in those countries. .
If the case is to talk about human rights, the statement asks, why does the European Parliament not review the situation of the blockade against Cuba, imposed by the United States, which aims to suffocate the Caribbean country.
He also inquired why the Legislative of the so-called Old Continent does not pronounce itself on the massacres recently committed by the government of President Iván Duque in Colombia.
The Association of Cuban Residents in Nicaragua this weekend adopted the name of General Antonio Maceo y Grajales (1845-1896), one of the main heroes of the independence wars against Spanish colonialism, to identify the group. (Text and photo: PL)
