Havana, June 10 - From today until June 20, a national tribute will be paid to VilmaEspínGuillois, the eternal president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), on the occasion of commemorating 14 years of her death.
This was reported to the newspaper Granma Osmayda Hernández Beleño, a member of the National Secretariat of the FMC, and announced that the activities to be carried out in the communities and work centers will be tempered to the current conditions of COVID-19.
It will be the space to honor the women and men who, from science, the health sector, the food production sector, have also maintained an active participation throughout the confrontation with the pandemic, he said.
VilmaEspín was a member of the July 26 Movement, and since 1958, a fighter from the Sierra Maestra, where she was part of the Second Eastern Front Frank País.
Since the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, she has worked hard to guarantee women's rights and emancipation, for which she founded, on August 23, 1960, the Federation of Cuban Women.
He died in Havana on June 18, 2007, and his remains rest in the Mausoleum of the Second Eastern Front Frank País, in Santiago de Cuba. (Text and photo: ACN)
